She has athletic parents, especially her mother who won a bronze medal at the 1976 Montreal Olympics in the 400 meter relay. During her childhood she traveled a lot and finally the family decided to remain in Egypt. There her coach was Mohammed Seif and along him her parents.
When she was a junior player she won the French Open. It was happening in 1998 and her opponent in the final was Jelena Dokic. As a professional player she still didn't win any Grand Slam title, but she is a talented and dedicated player and it is sure she will still fight for this. She has victories as a single player at Tbilisi, Makarska, Hvar, Dubrovnik, Linz, Doha, Amelia Island, CharlestIn 2003 she reached the semi-finals at the French Open. The same result was achieved in 2005.At the US Open her best results were in 2004 and 2005 when she entered the quarter-finals, but lost to Svetlana Kuznetsova and Maria Sharapova. She also played quarter-finals at Wimbledon and Australian Open in 2005 and 2006. Until now (2007) she has won seven single titles and 12 doubles titles.
Being so talented and having so much power in her hands gave her courage to continue in the hard world of the tennis. She is a girl who wants to become a champion and until she succeeds it she won't quit. Let's hope that injuries will stay away and she can train hard and participate at many tournaments.
